I have suffered from seasonal allergies for over 25 years. I am allergic to grass pollens and every February through July, while they are actively air borne, I am completely miserable. After the first 5 years of suffering from allergies, I went to a medical doctor to get prescription allergy medicine. I have been taking this medicine ever since and I receive about 95% relief. I had learned to live 6 months of each year with my allergy medicine.
This year I have been waiting for the allergy symptoms to surface so I can start taking the medicine. As February arrived, I did not feel the need to start the medication. March arrived, then April. It is now May and I still have not taken my seasonal allergy medicine. I get the occasional tickle in my nose and I will sneeze every now and then, but on the misery scale, I would say I am at 1% misery as compared to a total 100% misery as in past years.
I had allergies (nuts/peanut butter/ cats) and by the age of 7 had to be on allergy meds year-around and had to use an inhaler frequently. We were just getting ready to begin a 5 year treatment with allergy shots and thought we would try upper cervical first. So glad we did! Before Specific Chiropractic I couldn’t go to people’s houses that had cats. I had to take medication daily which was frustrating. I also had to use an asthma inhaler before any running program at school or any long distance running.
Since being under Specific Chiropractic I have more confidence not being tied down by medications. I am happier in general and have more energy. Now I can go to friends’ houses because it (chiropractic) helps my allergies. I haven’t used QUVAR or Albuterol for asthma since March (started with The Specific in Jan / Feb) and was able to be off of 3 allergy meds for 3-4 months completely during the summer (Flonase, Zyrtec, Singulair). Looking forward to getting off of completely for the long term.
