I took levothyroxine for hashimoto’s disease (.88mg). I had gained weight with my thyroid problem. My immune system was destroying my thyroid. In April, my doctor tested my thyroid to be sure of the level of medicine I needed and he reduced the strength from .88mg to .50 mg saying I was too high on the TSH test.
My last visit (in September) my doctor told me to discontinue my levothyroxine. He ordered an ultrasound to see what was going on. The doctors report came in for the ultrasound on my thyroid and said, “The thyroid is fine and there are no nodules.” I am now able to be off of all my thyroid medications! I have lost 25 pounds and continue losing weight without the thyroid medicine.
