MountaintopToday on social media and the internet, there are so many blogs and articles about how to change yourself and the habits you should have in order to be successful and happy. While I always encourage growth and wanting to be the best version of yourself, I think the most important factor to be happy and successful is to embrace who you truly are.  So many times people try to “fit” into whatever social norms we have created.  We try to have these nicely defined boxes we all need to fit into.

The biggest problem with not being yourself is the energy that it takes to keep up appearances.  It is so blatant in society when someone just can’t keep up with the image they are portraying. This always leads to a spiraling whirlwind that ends up in disaster.  As proof, just take a look at the many celebrities that have had mental breakdowns and lost a sense of who they are.

You may be wondering how this is related to the office and the work we do.  If you have been to the “Big Idea Class” (which I hope you have!) we talk about the 5 pillars of health. One of those pillars is a positive outlook on life or mental health.  You can not be truly well if you are missing this aspect of health.

What I have found is that when people first come to my office, not only are they in pain, but they have also lost who they are because they are not able to function like they once did. Since we generally treat people with disorders such as migraines, fibromyalgia, vertigo, and chronic pain, we observe how those ailments really impact the quality of their lives.  In fact, I have had many people tell me that they feel lost or hopeless when they first come in the office.

I would say the biggest benefit that people receive when they come to The Specific Chiropractic Center is that they get their lives back.  Not only does the pain go away, but a whole new outlook on life is restored.  That is the best part of our jobs – seeing people fully express who they truly are.

The aspect I love so much about the Specific Chiropractic Center is that the offices and team members across the nation are all so different.  We all express ourselves very uniquely, and because of that, we have wonderful success.  Our different points of view help us work together to make this company great.  We all have the same vision of bringing upper cervical chiropractic to as many people in the U.S and the world as possible.  We also have personal visions about how to make that happen on a local level. Each office has it’s own personal touch to make it unique to the area and the type of people that the office serves.

The best gift you can give the world is to truly be yourself.  The world will embrace you, and it takes a whole lot less mental energy.  This is your life – do what you love, and do it often.

Yours in Health,

Dr. Alison Bremner
